Holly says, "Eventually, Miranda makes friends with a group online. Have you made online friends, and do you think those friendships are as strong as the people you know in person?"

I do have many online friends. Some of my online friendships are casual, but others are extremely close. I've met many of my online friends in real life, and consider some of them to be my closest friends. I still have very close in real life friends, but the Internet opens up a whole world of possibilities for making friends with people who have common interests to yours but may not live near you.
I have lot's of online friends. First it was yahoo book groups and now facebook and blogging.
I think I put online friends in a different category, but they're definitely there!
As someone who is not super social in person I find that my online friends, who I work on blogs with, or am in different groups with, are actually much closer to me then some people I see IRL. These online friends have given me confidence to be more sociable IRL and have opened up huge possibilities for me!
The online group in tmas is based on two real-life groups I met, and we did get to be very close. The second group got together for a big reunion, and it was pretty amazing how well we already knew each other.
One of my favorite things about going to conferences is getting to meet other book people I've met online! For me it's almost like meeting a celebrity, so I'm always a little bit starstruck at first. I felt that way when I met you, Melissa. :)
I do have online friends. I have friends I met online who have become real-life friends and vice-versa, as I can hear from real-life friends more often in email than I see them, especially if they live halfway around the globe!
Yes to both questions! And yes, some of my online friends have become "real life" friends, too. In fact, next year I'm planning a trip to Australia to visit one of my very best online friends. :)
Yes, I do... but as many as I used to. I don't go on chatrooms anymore (:P jk). I used to be really active with this forum, and the members were so inviting and lovely. This was a few years ago, and things don't last forever. But I did get to meet a few of them!
I heart my online friends. Say like Little Willow and most of the rgz staff. *hug*
