October: The Power of Desire

Laini says, "Kizzy wants. Some readers are angry that she doesn't do the safe, 'good' thing, but desire is very powerful, isn't it? Do you feel like you are equipped and grounded enough to make safe choices in the face of desire?"

I loved Kizzy's story (think it was my favorite). It felt so real to me for her to give in. Desire is intoxicating; I've definitely done things I shouldn't have because of it... but I've learned from them (I think!)

I was one of those readers who were very frustrated with Kizzy's recklessness and excessive "wanting". I think that because I'm the complete opposite of Kizzy - very practical and I always think things through first - I found it difficult to relate to her. It was definitely an interesting story though!

I was one of the shocked. I was wowed by Laini's daring writing.

I try to put up double guards on those weak areas that may bring instant gratification but harm in the long run.

The younger you are, the more powerful desire is, because you have less experience with knowing your true power beneath desire. That emerges as you get older. And also to know that desire is simply a craving that will pass, this too is learned from experience.

I want, but not for material things.
I want, but not for things I don't need or shouldn't have.
I want to be happy.
I want to be successful.
I want to inspire others.
