March: It's All About Steampunk!

Our featured March read, Leviathan, comes out of the "steampunk" community, a large subculture with a wonderful visual culture. Steampunk folks make their own jewelry, clothing, and all kinds of art.

Those costumes are amazing. I'll be surprised if we don't see some runway inspiration at fashion weeks one season soon.

YaY! I adore steampunk! The new YA novel, Incarceron looks very steampunkish also. Can't wait to read it AND Leviathan.

CPhodges: Yes, Incarceron is great. Not exactly steampunk, but it's a great mix of different kinds of technology: medieval and futuristic. I think that's my favorite kind of world, one where a lot of different flavors are stacked up against each other.

I like that, Scott-a book should have many flavors to give it richness--like a triple decker ice cream cone.
