Seattle HOST: Mary Jane Beaufrand!

Hello again, rgz!

What a fun night! I went to a launch party for Seattle author MJ Beaufrand's THE RIVER, a book I'm so excited to read. It promises to be very suspenseful, and hearing MJ read the first chapter proves that it's also got a great voice and a touch of humor.

The party was filled with friends and kids and some of Seattle's most awesome librarians and booksellers. The highlight (aside from MJ's reading and the chance to finally buy THE RIVER!) had to be when a group of kids (some related to MJ) took the stage to preform a couple of songs. One was a peppy rendition of the B52's Love Shack!

THE RIVER opens on Valentine's Day, and I think I'll read it next weekend so I feel all of-the-moment. Might I suggest that you do the same?

It's kind of hard to see, but MJ's wearing a crazy-cool bracelet/ring combo. It's a horse-drawn chariot! The bracelet has a gladiator and the rings have tiny horses.

See you soon!
