July: Are you a misfit?

Cecil says, "The Janes are all misfits. How do you feel you are a misfit?" Or do you, rgz?

Hm. I felt like a misfit in the Korean airport and market as I loomed over the crowd. Same in Puerto Rico.

There are points when I feel like a misfit in the midst of a group of people all with opposite political and religious views.

That's what comes to mind right now...

I'm not a misfit, I'm Miss What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get: No matter where I am or who is present, I'm true to myself!

I always think that misfits are interesting people. It doesn't necessarily need to mean "uncomfortable" it could mean "suigeneris"

It makes me think of that song, "Why am I such a misfit?" Lol. I've definitely had times (a lot of them) where I didn't feel like I fit in. That can be uncomfortable, or it can be interesting - depends on the situation and attitude (of others too, but mainly my own).

I must share the song Misfit by Amy Studt - Click to watch the video at YouTube! Amy's a British singer/songwriter who is unafraid to speak her mind, and Misfit is an awesome anthem for all of us who are proud to be unique, non-sheep!

And I don't wanna be in their game
Don't wanna follow the leader
No way
What's the use?
What's the point?
You got the wrong girl, oh

Go, Amy, go!

Remember the Misfits, the band battling Jem and the Holograms? "We are the Misfits, our songs are better. We are the Misfits, we're gonna get her!"

Oh, lyrics. But seriously, I do feel like a misfit sometimes, in the best ways. There are some situations I don't want to "fit" into!

Jem is truly outrageous!

Points for you, Miss Melissa. I loved that show. I had the Jem soundtrack and two Choose Your Own Adventure books. I can sing every single one of those songs - and I will, at a moment's notice, whenever someone says a word like "gem," "deception," "misfit," or "click."

I felt like a misfit often in middle school and high school. I think it goes along with the midterms and the sloppy joe lunches. But I don't feel that way anymore--at least not in my every day life. It's only when I step far out of my comfort zone that I get that feeling now. Here's to confidence! I'm off to look up suigeneris

Yep - I've always felt like a misfit. I always liked things that nobody else liked and felt like I was an outsider through most of school. But as you grow up, you realize that just about everyone is seriously weird in some small way, and hopefully you care less about fitting into someone else's definition of cool. It's the "misfitty" parts of me that make me the person I am. I'm ok with that.

Yay for Amy Studt, LW!

I always felt like one in junior high and high school. It always went away when I was surrounded with my people. I don't really ever feel like that anymore.

It's kinda fun - when you grow up you get to pick who you are around (for the most part). Plus, I don't think we care as much about the petty sillinesses that so much of our world revolved around in school. IMO.
