Melissa: Are you a musical theatre person? If so, definitely check out the musical Parade. Also, the story - based on a real-life murder of Mary Phagan, who was killed in 1913, when she was two months shy of 14 years old - has some similarities to the tragedy upon which A Northern Light was based.
