readergirlz is a literacy and social media project for teens, awarded the National Book Foundation's Innovations in Reading Prize. The rgz blog serves as a depot for news and YA reviews from industry professionals and teens. June 2009: rgz News Flash!

Welcome to readergirlz in June!

Many thanks to the National Book Foundation for awarding rgz with the Innovations in Reading Prize! As rgz is a volunteer organization, this award will help us with operational costs and kick off a new literacy program we've been brainstorming for the coming year. Thank you, National Book Foundation! We are honored!

National Book Award nominated Sara Zarr hangs with rgz!

In June we are gathering to chat with Sara Zarr about her novel Sweethearts which received multiple starred reviews. Publishers Weekly called the work, "Engrossing." Be ready to discuss memories, friendship, and childhood sweethearts throughout the month. rgz LIVE! with Sara will be held on June 17th at 6pm Pacific/9pm Eastern at the readergirlz blog.
