The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick

Hey, readergirlz! Did any of you go to the movies over Thanksgiving weekend? Don't forget to go to a bookstore while you're at it and grab the books which inspired your new favorite flicks!

Before his debut novel, Silver Linings Playbook, was made into a major motion picture starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence,  Matthew Quick visited readergirlz. That was back in December 2010, when we featured his first YA novel, Sorta Like a Rockstar. He spoke with us about compassion and kindness, themes that permeate all of his books. Melissa later wrote a Cover Story about Boy21, another Quick pick.

Miss Erin in a MOVIE!

Standing "O" for postergirl Miss Erin, rgz! I just saw this at her blog:

"I AM GOING TO BE IN A MOVIE. MY FIRST FEATURE FILM EVER.

THE CAST AND CREW (myself included, obvi) WILL BE FLOWN OUT TO KENTUCKY IN JULY TO SHOOT ON LOCATION.

THE MOVIE WILL BE DIRECTED BY GLENN WITHROW. IT'S GOING TO STAR HALLIE TODD (!!!) AND MYSELF WITH A GROUP OF OTHER GIRLS. If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you'll know that those are two of my favorite people (and heroes/mentors) on EARTH.

THE MOVIE IS CALLED "THE MOORING" AND IT'S A HORROR-THRILLER."

Meg at the Movies!

Our featured author this month has lots of film and television deals in the works (good news for us--more Meg!).

We knew that the title we're talking about in the rgz forum, How to Be Popular, is at MTV.

According to Publisher's Weekly, producers Joan Singleton (Because of Winn-Dixie) and Harry Winer (House Arrest) just secured film rights to Meg's All-American Girl series (American Girl and Ready or Not).

In addition, per PW, "Avalon High is at the Disney Channel; The Mediator is with producer Julia Pistor; The Heather Wells Mysteries is at ABC Family, as is Jinx; and The Queen of Babble is with producer Jeff Sharp of Sharp Independent."
