Our featured March read, Leviathan, comes out of the "steampunk" community, a large subculture with a wonderful visual culture. Steampunk folks make their own jewelry, clothing, and all kinds of art.

readergirlz is a literacy and social media project for teens, awarded the National Book Foundation's Innovations in Reading Prize. The rgz blog serves as a depot for news and YA reviews from industry professionals and teens. As volunteers return full force to their own YA writing, the organization continues to hold one initiative a year to impact teen literacy. All are welcome to "like" us on Facebook!

YaY! I adore steampunk! The new YA novel, Incarceron looks very steampunkish also. Can't wait to read it AND Leviathan.
CPhodges: Yes, Incarceron is great. Not exactly steampunk, but it's a great mix of different kinds of technology: medieval and futuristic. I think that's my favorite kind of world, one where a lot of different flavors are stacked up against each other.
I like that, Scott-a book should have many flavors to give it richness--like a triple decker ice cream cone.
