readergirlz is a literacy and social media project for teens, awarded the National Book Foundation's Innovations in Reading Prize. The rgz blog serves as a depot for news and YA reviews from industry professionals and teens. I think a lot of times evidence is more convincing then words. I would probably tell them about all the great things that they do and their effect on people.

Make a list! Make a list of everything positive you can think of about yourself. For one minute your pencil cannot stop. Then sit quietly and consider each thing on the list with great gratitude for the gift you have been given and should value.
