Thank You for Rocking the Drop Around the World!

Oh, man. You guys around the world were INCREDIBLE! It took three divas an entire week to post all the pics that flew in. There may be a few more to go up, still. Can you believe that?

We had readergirlz dropping books all over the United States. We had drops in Japan, India, and England. Rock the Drop was INTERNATIONAL!

Thanks for helping to celebrate ALA and YALSA's Support Teen Literature Day. It was a massive party. Melissa has been awesome to also collect the drop photos on our new Facebook Fan Page. So please "like" us and stream through that collection.

Our thanks also to our partner in 2011, Figment. They got the word out super well. Their to-do list absolutely rocked, as did their video.

Thanks also to supporters like Seventeen, Boing Boing, GL, and GalleyCat. We heart you!

So one thing's for sure. We'll be rocking the drop next year for Support Teen Lit Day. Let us know if you have any suggestions for the initiative. Now watch for Micol to announce the winning drop! Coming soon...

Author Sara Bennett Wealer Rocked the Drop in her town, leaving one book at the big Catholic girls' school. "I pulled up in the circle drive and left RIVAL on a banister on a landing of the big grand staircase leading up to the entrance. You can see it here - just barely, though, because my earlier experience made me too scared to linger for a close-up. I shot this through my windshield."

Then she went to her neighborhood town hall, which has an after-school program that's run by teens. "I left RIVAL on a picnic table by the playground and shot a cute video that included my little one being cute but, alas, my phone refuses to email it to me. I did, however, get a photo. Here it is."

Author Denise Jaden says: "I Rocked the Drop at my old high school right near my house. It was kinda fun, being covert and all, sneaking into the school and leaving a copy of LOSING FAITH right inside the main doors for someone to find!"

Thanks, Denise!

Rock the Drop: Photo Op!

"I was excited to learn about rock the drop on one of my favorite websites, bookcrossing.com, and I dropped a bunch of teen books today." --Kristin Fischer

Sweethearts by Sara Zarr was left on a water fountain at a park in Phoenix, Arizona.

This book is The confessions of a heartless girl by Martha Brooks. It was left on top of a display of free newspapers in front of Souvia Tea, a tea store in Phoenix, Arizona. I thought this was a particularly appropriate place to drop the book since it has a picture of a teacup/coffee cup on the cover.

Here is another book dropped in support of Teen Lit Day. You can see in the picture that the book is The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. It was left on a display of free newspapers in front of Barro's Pizza in Phoenix, Arizona.

This was left near the water fountain by the restroom between the two girls' softball fields where two other books were dropped on the bleachers. It is Money Hungry by Sharon Fluke.

This book was left near the tennis courts at a park in Phoenix, Arizona. It is Avalon High by Meg Cabot:

The one in this picture is Troll Bridge by Jane Yolen and Adam Stempler. It was left on the bleachers of a girls' softball field at a park in Phoenix, Arizona:

This book was left on the bleachers of an adjacent softball field at a park in Phoenix, AZ:

"Okay, readergirlz, that was a BLAST! Left mine in a plaza and a coffee house frequented by the after school crowd." --Tamara Ireland Stone
