September: Breaking the Rules

Katsa breaks a lot of rules about how girls in society "should" behave. Are there rules in our society you'd like to break?

  1. I'm not a rulebreaker by any means, but I would never abide by a law which was discriminatory. If I think something is unjust, wrong, or harmful, I will fight it and encourage others to do the same.

  2. I'm not a rule breaker either, LW. But discrimination does send me through the roof. And you will hear about it...

  3. There are a lot of rules I'd like to break. For example, when a man disrespects me on the street, or in the office, or in a store, or really, anywhere, I'd like to punch him in the nose. Unfortunately, that seems to be frowned upon. :)

I feel trapped in the "nice girl" role a lot, actually, and wish it weren't so hard for a woman to be assertive, angry, commanding, etc. without getting tagged with the infamous label of "bitch".

  5. Yes, Kristin, and how hard not to mind the name-calling. I often think if I were truly assertive, independent--all that good stuff--I wouldn't care.

  6. If I had to make a list of all the rules I would like to break, It would probably fill many pages. But, like Little Willow, I'm far from a rulebreaker. I'm too law-abiding actually. But many rules tend to make me angry, like French administration ones, which are often contradictory and offensive (I've had my share of those during the last few years, and oh my, how bored and furious it made me !).
