    I'm extremely flattered that Jason commented on this post.

    Thank you, Jason, for the inspiration you've given to me as a singer, composer, actor, and writer.

    For those who aren't familiar with the work of musical mastermind Jason Robert Brown, please become familiar with it at once. I promise you'll be happy that you did.

    My favorite musical of his is The Last Five Years, followed by Parade. I'm a musical theatre actress, and roles in each of those shows are on my list of parts I'd love to play.

    Dear Little Willow,

    Thanks for the call-out for our latest book, It's Picture Day Today!

    The seed for the story was planted on an afternoon that the author Megan McDonald spent with her three-year-old niece. They sat together at a kitchen table with paper, buttons, pom-poms, sequins and all manner of things spread out in front of them.

    The little girl had never been introduced to glue. Imagine her delight when gradually, bit by bit, a clown emerged!

    I like to think that this new book is a metaphor for all of us. We each put ourselves together, bit by bit, in surprising and totally unique ways.
