I met a girl at one of her signings and we stil keep in touch as really good friends and talk about the old days when we would spend the night at each other's houses just reading. I also like that Tamora writes characters that people can relate to. For example: she didn't make them TOO perfect. Kel is afriad of hieghts. It connects us to the characters in a way I can't explain. It shows that anyone-- even us-- can do something exraordinary if we put our minds onto it and just try. It gives us hope that if someone that is afraid of heights can make it so can someone who--for example-- is afraid of bugs. Tamora Pierce is my all time favorite author. It started when my friend's sister who worked at Borders asked me if I ever read Tamora Pierce. She said they were amazing and told me Alanna: The 1st Adventure was 1st in the series. I finished it in 4 1/2 hours. I love that, even if you don't read those kind of books, you'll love them anyways. I'll admit, before these I was a vampire freak (Twilight, Vampire Academy, House of Night, Blue Bloods,Morganville Vampires, Cirque du Freak, etc...) and these books turned me onto a whole new genre. I still go back every now and then to read my favorite parts. Are you planning on continuing any of your finished series(SotL, Immortals, PotS, Tricksters)? Any new projects coming up? Any signings in LA? I would love to see you again!Bookacholic911https://www.blogger.com/profile/05291045393160821175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2632611338168133022.post-37574532604139473822009-12-10T19:37:03.734-08:002009-12-10T19:37:03.734-08:00I like how Aly got her own county to deal with and...I like how Aly got her own county to deal with and grow up, but the relationship she had with her family was so deep. I don't think she can keep away for long. Will you ever write a book with Aly back in Tortall working with George?mcastrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07775726774139829635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2632611338168133022.post-48867068397592923602009-12-08T18:06:43.295-08:002009-12-08T18:06:43.295-08:00Thank you so much for sharing about the darkings a...Thank you so much for sharing about the darkings and Dove, Tamora! I was also thinking of Young Bess, Elizabeth I, though she wasn't as quiet as Dove at first. She was a scholar with a wide correspondence, and a number of European scholars, older men, were thrilled by this young woman who had so much learning.Tamora Piercehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14516748523294139761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2632611338168133022.post-7536534754666699842009-12-08T11:02:54.427-08:002009-12-08T11:02:54.427-08:00Dia, I came up with darkings this way:
My friend R...Dia, I came up with darkings this way:
My friend Raquel is an animation nut. When the film "Aladdin" came out, she could not stop talking about Carpet and the sand monster, both of which were the only computer animated pieces in the entire movie. (This was before everything was computer animated.) Then, when "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" came out, she found out that the movie makers realized they couldn't show the power of Dip by putting a human or animal Toon in it, because the little kids would be too traumatized. They also decided that putting a plain shoe in Dip wasn't exciting enough. So they made a shoe animate--they gave it eyes, a smile, and a happy personality. (I was one of those who wailed when Judge Doom put Shoe in the Dip!) Somehow those two things came together in my brain, and when Ozorne needed to create easy-to-hide spies, there were the darkings, bouncing up and down in my head.

By the way, I will never write a novel from the POV of a crow. I did one short story from the POV of a tree turned into a man; I did another from the dragon's POV; and I'm doing another from Nawat's POV. I've done my time in hell!Tamora Piercehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14516748523294139761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2632611338168133022.post-32610519005171567882009-12-07T20:23:42.989-08:002009-12-07T20:23:42.989-08:00I was so happy with the large turnout!I was so happy with the large turnout!Little Willowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17058463472836988047noreply@blogger.com
