October: The Punishments for Desire












Laini says, "In each of the stories, characters face consequences for desire. Can you give examples? Whose punishment is the most severe?"

  1. Oh, I need to refresh my reading! It's been about a year since I first read Lips Touch.

    But Kizzy's story remains with me as an example of great punishment. Pure existentialism ending life. *shivers*

  2. I think the punishment in the third story, "Hatchling," is the most severe for the queen and her minions. Eternal life isn't necessarily a blessing...

  3. Such a fascinating (and frightening) premise, that we should be punished for desire. I suppose it depends on what sort of desire, but love should be one of the purest emotions.

  4. Without desire we would all stagnate. But too much desire is equally deadly. The trick is knowing where to draw the line.
